Dual Degrees

We hope that you will consider dual degree combinations available through our excellent portfolio of graduate business degrees. Dual degrees are powerful tools in the marketplace. The combination of the MBA and an expert oriented MS degree may provide you with expand skill sets demanded in our high-tech global village.

1) General

If you wish to pursue a dual degree, you should first gain the answers to the following questions:

  • Am I eligible to apply for a dual degree?                                                   If you have not completed more than 24 hours of advanced courses in your current program you are normally eligible to apply (see catalog).

  • What career advantage can this dual degree provide?                     Graduate advisors, career counselors, and industry experts may be excellent sources of information concerning career advantages of dual degrees.

  • What are the new program’s admissions standards?                             This information is generally available in the Graduate Business Services Office. If you are marginally close to the admission requirements, you will need to discuss your admission with the graduate advisor.

2) The Application

Once you have decided to apply for a dual degree you will need to visit the Graduate Business Services Office to obtain the following forms:

  • Change of Program Form: Please provide all information requested. Some additional information is required. In the "reason for requesting the change," indicate which degree you plan to complete first. Your "reason for requesting the change" should also clearly state the career advantage you intend to gain.

  • Complete a mini-workshop for the second degree, listing all the required courses on the required worksheet. Ensure that no more than the maximum allowable number of joint courses are listed (see catalog) A joint course is one that counts towards both programs.

  • A copy of your current program of work and the Graduate School approval options form should be obtained from the Graduate Business Services Office

3) Director’s Audit

Once you have completed copies of the above documents you should ask the Graduate Business Services Office to make an appointment for you to audit your file and application. This audit is to earmark joint courses, identify new deficiency/foundation requirements, and change your program of work on CyberAdvising if needed. Your application will then be submitted for approval by advisors and the Graduate School.

4) Change to Second Degree Program

When you have registered for the last course in your first degree, you should request that the Graduate Business Services Office convert your CyberAdvising program of work to the second degree. Please keep in mind that your second degree must be completed within three years after graduating from your first degree.
